Labor Day weekend had some really nice weather this time around, if a bit muggy. We decided to take Monday and ride out to the park. I took along my gear to sneak in an activation. Lately, I get to 10 contacts pretty quickly, but on this activation it took almost an hour. The bands were practically dead and I wasn’t getting out like I normally do.
That’s the magical part of ham radio, right?
Location: The Octagon at Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Band Conditions: The bands were garbage. FT8 on 20m was slow to get contacts. That’s unusual. None of the bands on FT8 were in great condition.
Weather: Sunny, clear, muggy, mid-80s dF.
Solar Conditions: A: 25; K: 1; Flux: 131
10 Contacts on FT8. 9 on 20m and 1 on 40m.
