The results are in! My dad and I came in 3rd place with a score of 1,566 points. Not too bad for a day where the propagation was absolute garbage and we were mostly talking to ourselves in the park via phone modes. FT8 was the only way out, sadly. But we stuck to it and did what we could.
The next round happens in February (the traditional timing for the event) and it’s unlikely we will have warm temperatures for it. If propagation isn’t a hassle, I can see us doing quite well if only because I can sit out in the cold longer than most. Stay tuned!
I should also note briefly that PCARS placed second overall in the 4A group at Field Day 2022. Best in Ohio and Best in The Great Lakes Division. I’m proud of the club and pleased that I was able to work a shift in the chair for Field Day this year.
